The PM² Alliance to contribute through its extended network with training, research, and dissemination activities.
The European Commission has awarded the Jean Monnet Chair of “The PM² Methodology – Europe’s open, free and common Project Management Methodology” to Germán Martínez Montes.
Dr. Germán Martínez Montes is a Professor of Engineering Projects at the University of Granada in Spain, a core member of the PM² Guide Spanish translation team, a PM² Alliance Certified Trainer, and an Academic & Universities Advisory Committee member, offering strategic guidance to the PM² Alliance Board of Directors (BoD) on developing strategies that bring closer the PM² Alliance and Academia.
The Jean Monnet are university chairs awarded within the framework of the Jean Monnet – Erasmus + program, and their objective is to strengthen teaching and research on European integration in universities, in Member States of the European Union as well as in other countries. The main objective of the Chair is to increase the visibility, use and continuous improvement of the European Commission’s Open PM² Project Management Methodology.
To achieve this goal, over the next three years, Open PM² training activities will be developed (for members of the university community and for practitioners, companies and institutions) and research will be conducted on weaknesses of the methodology and proposals for improvement points.
Academics and professionals of recognized prestige from various countries participate in these activities, which will allow a transfer and exchange of knowledge and applications on project management methodologies at an international level.
Additionally, open workshops and panels will be organised to discuss and debate on the future of the PM² Methodology, with international speakers and experts, including Nicos Kourounakis (President of the PM² Alliance and Co-Author of the PM² Methodology), Dr. Ilias Katsagounos (ESDC – European Security and Defence College) and Agustin Moya Colorado, PhD Cnd. and (PM² Alliance Executive Advisory Committee member).
All the training and promotional material that will be developed as part of the programme will be done in an open and bilingual format (Spanish and English), looking for maximum dissemination and penetration of the PM² Methodology in Universities and Academia and Europe’s public and private sectors.
This Jean Monnet Chair reinforces an ongoing collaboration with the PM² Alliance, a collaboration which is based on a shared vision for the future of PM² in Europe (see the PM² Alliance Manifesto for Europe). The PM² Alliance will actively contribute to this programme by activating its members, the international PM² Community, its University and Academic network as well as its Certified Trainers to participate in research and dissemination activities.
In the near future, a web space will be available where all matters related to the activities of the Jean Monnet Chair and the joint activities with the PM² Alliance.
In addition to Professor Martínez Montes as Professor Jean Monnet (Chair Holder), Associate Professor Begoña Moreno Escobar will participate in the work as academic coordinator.
PM² Alliance – www.pm2alliance.eu is an international, not-for-profit organisation with a broad membership across the Member States of the EU.
