A special 2-hour plenary session on Open PM² was held during the 23rd International Congress on Project Management and Engineering (ICPME 2019) (Malaga, Spain, 10 -12 July). Many people attended the session and participated during the later roundtable.
First, Javier Pajares (University of Valladolid, Spain) presented “PM² in a nutshell: Philosophy and tips beyond the methodology”, sharing with the attendees an overview of the methodology, as well as his experiences teaching the methodology in the Master in Project Management and also his lessons learned when advising local SMEs on how to implement it.
“Why use PM²? PM² is the short & sweet version of PM Methodologies.” was the title of the talk by Germán Martinez (University of Granada). He explained the advantages of using the methodology: Its simplicity, ease of learning, as well as some tips on the use of Artefacts.
“Tailoring PM². The case of EU-funded International Projects” was the title of the conference by Augustin Moya (expert in international development cooperation projects and regional PM² Alliance coordinator in Spain). He explained the keys to adapt the PM² guide to development projects. And he explained the importance of the methodology to manage the projects within the context of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The round table addressed issues such as professional certification, the ease of implementing the methodology in SMEs and the promising synergies of PM² with the competency-based project management standards.
The Congress is annually organized by AEIPRO, the Spanish Association for Project Management and Engineering, which is the Spanish partner member of IPMA (International Project Management Association). This year, practitioners, researchers and academics (coming from more than 15 countries) shared their latest research and professional experiences in project management.
