The project, funded under the ERASMUS-EDU-2024-PI-ALL-INNO call, represents a transformative step towards equipping project managers with sustainability-focused competencies, fostering innovation, and enhancing social responsibility in project execution.

The Kick-Off Meeting: A Strong Start for ESG-Focused Project Management
The kick-off meeting, brought together a diverse consortium of 14 esteemed partners from across Europe, including Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, industry leaders, and professional associations. As a recognized authority in PM²-based project management, the PM² Alliance actively contributed to discussions on how structured project management methodologies can support the seamless integration of ESG principles into business and education frameworks.

Outlined the project’s key objectives—bridging the ESG skills gap, defining professional standards, and creating a competency framework. - Discussed the development of the ESG4PMChange learning framework, including Living Labs for practical applications.
- Explored strategies for digital learning, including the creation of MOOCs and Open Educational Resources (OER) to make ESG project management training widely accessible.
- Set the foundation for a micro-credential framework that will align with EQF, ECTS, and ISO 17024 standards, ensuring industry-wide recognition.

PM² Alliance’s Role in ESG4PMChange
As a leading force in professional project management education, the PM² Alliance is uniquely positioned to:
- Ensure alignment between ESG-focused project management and the widely adopted PM² Methodology, which already emphasizes governance, accountability, and structured workflows.
- Co-lead the development of standardized professional profiles and the ESG competency framework, in collaboration with top academic institutions and industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to the training program design, integrating ESG within PM²-based project management approaches to provide learners with practical, applicable knowledge.
- Support dissemination and advocacy efforts, engaging a network of professionals and organizations across Europe to endorse and implement ESG project management principles.
Next Steps: Implementing ESG Standards in Project Management
With a solid foundation laid during the kick-off meeting, the ESG4PMChange consortium will now focus on:
- Conducting a comprehensive market needs analysis to assess current ESG competencies in project management.
- Developing problem-centered curricula and training programs tailored to project managers, HEIs, and VET providers.
- Launching the ESG4PMChange Digital Resource Hub, offering MOOCs and interactive learning tools.
- Establishing a structured micro-credentialing system to validate ESG competencies in project management.
