Between the 1st and 3rd of October 2025, the PM² Alliance participated in PM Agora 2025, held in Larnaca, Cyprus, a key European gathering for project management professionals, EU funding experts, and policymakers dedicated to advancing innovation, sustainability, and capacity building across Europe.
Representing the Alliance, Mr. Harry Konstantopoulos, Member of the PM² Alliance Board of Directors, delivered a keynote session titled “EU PM Certification: PM² – the Endorsed Project Management Methodology of the European Commission.” His presentation focused on how the PM² Methodology strengthens governance, accountability, and results in EU-funded projects, while supporting professional development through its structured certification pathway.
Advancing Project Governance and Results Through PM²
In his presentation, Mr. Konstantopoulos guided participants through the foundations of the PM² Methodology, highlighting how a clear governance model, structured processes, and a standardized lifecycle enable project teams to deliver consistent, measurable results.
He revisited the essential distinctions between projects, programmes, and portfolios, emphasizing that well-defined governance and alignment with strategic objectives are central to achieving sustainable outcomes. By illustrating the Triple Constraint (time, cost, and quality), he demonstrated how PM² helps teams balance competing priorities and focus on tangible outcomes and benefits rather than mere outputs.
The House of PM²
Mr. Konstantopoulos described PM²’s unique architecture — built upon four key pillars:
- Governance Model (roles and responsibilities)
- Lifecycle (phases and stage gates)
- Processes (core project management activities)
- Artefacts (standardised documentation and templates)
These are supported by the PM² Mindsets — the behavioural and cultural foundations of successful project teams, fostering collaboration, ownership, and adaptability.
Participants also explored how PM²’s lifecycle phases — Initiating, Planning, Executing, and Closing — integrate with Phase Gates and Approvals (RfP, RfE, RfC), ensuring structured decision-making and continuous monitoring throughout project implementation.
Professional Growth Through PM² Certification
The presentation also introduced the PM² Alliance Certification Pathway, which supports continuous professional growth. Mr. Konstantopoulos outlined how practitioners can progress through the available certifications, deepening both their theoretical knowledge and practical application of PM².
Presenting the Alliance’s EU-Funded Projects
Mr. Konstantopoulos also took the opportunity to present two of the PM² Alliance’s EU-funded projects, both coordinated by the University of Novi Sad under the Erasmus+ Programme:
ESG4PMChange
This project integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into project management education and professional practice. It develops standardized ESG project management qualifications, a digital training hub, and Living Labs for hands-on learning. With 14 partners across 7 countries, the project supports the EU Green Deal and UN SDGs, helping professionals lead Europe’s green transformation by making ESG a core element of project design and execution.
SPM²
Building upon the PM² methodology, this project embeds sustainability principles directly into project management frameworks. Deliverables include the SPM² Guide, a digital learning hub, and modular micro-credentials. By equipping learners with green and digital skills aligned with EU standards, SPM² empowers higher education and training institutions to prepare a new generation of sustainability-minded project leaders across Europe.
Together, these initiatives reflect the PM² Alliance’s strategic mission: to build competence-based, sustainability-oriented, and policy-aligned project management education.
Collaboration and Acknowledgements
PM Agora 2025 was co-organised by InnoEUsphere, T-hap, and the Academy of Entrepreneurship, three organisations that share a strong commitment to advancing project management excellence and innovation in Europe. Their joint effort created an engaging platform that brought together professionals, educators, and policymakers to exchange ideas, build connections, and promote meaningful collaboration across the EU project community.
