Central Denmark EU Office Adopts PM² Methodology through European Academy In-House Training

In June 2023, the Central Denmark EU Office hosted an intensive three-day in-house training programme on Management and Coordination of EC-Funded Projects: The PM² Methodology, delivered by European Academy, a PM² Alliance Affiliated Training Provider (ATP).

The course gathered 35 participants from the Central Denmark Region and its partner institutions for an applied, expert-led training focused on enhancing project coordination, proposal development, and financial management skills in line with the European Commission’s PM² project management methodology.

Led by an experienced team of certified experts, the course combined conceptual foundations with real-world application, providing participants with a unified understanding of effective project management practices.

Building Regional Capacity in EU Project Management

The training programme was specifically tailored to support Central Denmark’s public sector professionals involved in EU-funded projects, including regional and municipal representatives. The inclusive structure allowed teams to strengthen collaboration and adopt a shared governance approach, ensuring consistent standards and improved coordination across regional EU initiatives.

Throughout the course, participants explored critical areas such as:

  • The PM² lifecycle, governance model, and core artefacts (Business Case, Project Charter, Work Plan)
  • EU funding fundamentals and strategic project planning principles
  • Proposal design and evaluation insights, including the Elements of a Winning Proposal module
  • Financial management and eligibility rules for EC-funded projects
  • Tools and checklists for monitoring, risk control, and reporting compliance
  • Interactive workshops applying PM² principles to regional project contexts

The hands-on sessions and practical case studies ensured participants could translate PM² methodology into operational efficiency and improved funding success.

Empowering Public Institutions through PM²

This training exemplified how European Academy’s PM² courses help public institutions adopt the European Commission’s project management standards and improve the quality, transparency, and impact of their projects.

By embracing PM², the Central Denmark EU Office is equipping its members with the tools to strengthen internal coordination, enhance proposal competitiveness, and foster a culture of evidence-based, accountable project delivery aligned with European best practices.

Strengthening Collaboration Across Sectors

Bringing together participants from education, culture, healthcare, and green transition sectors, this in-house training highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary learning in achieving project excellence. It served as a catalyst for regional cooperation, helping Central Denmark professionals establish lasting knowledge networks that promote innovation and alignment with Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, and other EU programmes.
