Presentation Summary
A profession is a disciplined group of individuals who adhere to ethical standards. They are accepted by the public as possessing special competencies in a widely recognized body of knowledge. They are perceived reliable to apply these competencies in the interest of others. Even though there is a tendency that the project profession should be adopted as a global discipline, project professionals remain a vocation without any strict governance in place.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) describes the learning activities professionals engage in to develop and enhance their competencies. It combines different approaches to learning, such as training workshops, conferences and events, e-learning programs, best practice techniques and ideas sharing, which are all focused on improving individual’s performance in projects.  In order to improve, show their value to the society and establish the discipline, project professionals need to constantly engage in CPD.
This session presents a global system of CPD in project management and offers on how to climb up the letter of competence. It shows that commitment to constant learning is expected of anyone who wants to become a true project professional.
